Ménage à trois en français: Renault Twingo vs Peugeot 108 vs Citroen C1

Our favourite frenchies debuted brand new city cars over the last two weeks, as always the question is which one is for you? The campy 108 with its borderline obscene themes, the alluring brunette C1, or the quirky, firey red head looking to leave her mark, otherwise known as the Twingo?

Engines:

Twingo: 1.0L I3 or 0.9L Turbo I3
108: 1.0L I3 or 1.2L I3
C1: 1.0L I3 or 1.2L I3

Power:

Twingo: 70 hp (1.0) or 90 hp (0.9)
108: 68 hp (1.0) or 82 hp (1.2)
C1: 68 hp (1.0) or 82 hp (1.2)

Turning Circle:

Twingo: 8.65 meters
108: 9.6 meters
C1: 4.80 meters

Cargo Volume:

Twingo: 219 liters
108: 180 liters
C1: 196 liters

Interiors:

Twingo:

108:

C1:

While the Citroen and the Peugeot are cute and dare I say feminine, overtly feminine. The Twingo with its macho rear engine/ rear wheel drive set up and chunkier proportions is clearly the tomboy, shes a little cagey but should be a bundle of fun. Pricing is unknown for the Twingo and the 108, the C1 has been priced at £8245, considering the C1 and the 108 share an identical platform and mechanics expect a similar price point from the Peugeot. The Twingo however should come in under 10,000 quid, the price bump is due to the mosre expensive platform layout, which was co developed with Mercedes.

Not for anything but the Twingo has the clear advantage in fun factor, it may have a tough slog in the price war but I know I'll pay for that fun, and yourself?

At least the instrument cluster sort of makes it seem they want to keep it as a true sporty hatch from what it seems, I like bits of the overall vehicle but it can be "better"

Excellent write-up Keisuke.

Does the Twingo really offer the greatest cargo volume? With the motor impinging on cargo volume, I would have placed the Twingo last. Apparently I would have been mistaken!

Not only does the Twingo offer the most fun, but also the most room too! Who knew!

its possible the quoted volume was including the rear seats folded, unfortunately there was no distinction either way!

Ah ok, so i just found out something interesting, the new 108 has a turning radius the same as the C1 of 4.8m, however some of the journos have been reporting it as 9.6m. So I wonder if they're either reporting based on last years 107 or if they're conflating the figures for the 3 door and the 5 door....

I want to say it's a typo, but, it's tough to say who's wrong here

the Twingo and C1 have very funky designs. The 108 probably has the most NORMAL looking front end.

It is strange to me that the Peugeot 108 is billed as the most luxurious and fancy of the bunch. IMO, its focus on themes and customization only serve to cheapen it. Features like that play better on cars that aren't aiming as far upmarket.

I personally think that the Twingo looks the best. It also has the most power and storage space, which is super important for a car with so little space to begin with.
