Recall recall recall!!!

Yes, the Twingo is being recalled to have an additional bracket fitted to the bonnet.

Apparently, some people find it difficult to fit the bonnet back on, and this leads to a distracting rattle. So, Renault are recalling the vehicle to fix on an additional bracket so the bonnet is easier to refit.

Booked mine in for tomorrow.

Anyone else...?

I cancelled my booking for the knock coming from my steering as it was too intermittent and the dealer mentioned it at that point. He seemed to be pretty clear that it wasn't an official recall though? He was fine with it being left until the next service.

It came through on headed Renault paper, and an explanation that my details had been obtained from the DVLA (rather than any official Renault database). I don't know how recalls work, but that involving DVLA certainly gives the impression of being official.

Anyway, took my Twingo in yesterday, and what do you know...? No record of any recall, nor of my on-line booking (despite the confirmation email). The chap was very apologetic, but as it's only a two minute drive from home it wasn't a big deal. Even if the booking had been made, the parts weren't there.

Booked for next week instead.

There is nothing listed on the DVSA Recall webpage.....Possibly someone has jumped the gun on this.

Had the additional bracket fitted this morning. Took about half an hour.

Attached the letter I received (highlighted area is mine) ... I wonder if it affects only certain Twingo models?

I'm not sure a rattle has ever been the cause of a recall before?! I always thought they were safety related things.

Weird. Mine never rattles anyway, but I thought I may as well have it done as the garage is just around the corner.

I have the letter now. I've had the bonnet off a few times now, never had a problem getting it back on - the only thing I would say though, is that it certainly doesn't seem to slide forward as per the Renault video. Perhaps that is where the confusion is occurring?

Just saw that - but haven't received anything from Renault yet. Or it is something that we can ignore?
